Beat-Boxing Baker
This guy is actually pretty sick. Putting together white noise, base and some "inst inst inst" beats, this beat-boxing baker cooks up and stirs together some crazy beats.
Although this BeatBox Fame Game is old news (and by old news I mean it was added in 2007), I wanted this "Electro Funk Daddy Super Star Break" to re-surface because I think it's awesome hip-hop beats and it's hilarious at the same time!
For all you cooking gurus out there, you might want to take a few tips :P

T.I.'s "Road to Redemption"
According to Hip Hop Galaxy, T.I. (aka Clifford Joseph Harris Jr.) has started the countdown to only 45 days left to end his community service. Sentenced to having up to 30 years jail time for possession of weapons, T.I. has decided to make a show based on getting his community service done in a year (coming to the end of March).
As part of a deal between his lawyers and the federal government, if he can get 1,000 hours completed by the end of March, his sentenced will be reduced. It's interesting to note that even in his work for community service he is still raking in money from his "Road to Redemption" series documenting his life. I wonder if he'll get all his hours in too!

Pharrell Williams Does His McDonald's Dance
This is quite the atypical performance that any celebrity might pull off... besides maybe Ashlee Simpson.
Pharrell Williams made an appearance at a McDonald's in France this past week. Williams decided to add a little spice to his morning by ordering for his breakfast in song:
"I want a Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, Quarter Pounder, French Fries / Icy Coke, Thick Shakes, Sundaes, Apple Pie."
I'm considering doing the same thing next time I want to order my next meal!

Out with the Old & in With the New?
Blogs, video blogs, podcasts, online radio and TV streaming and hypertext. This is language of our e-generation. The development of these new, emerging technology seems to be determining how we currently use media and how we will appropriate it in the future. These new communication technologies offer free, easily accessible media that are available to anyone at anytime. Traditional corporate communications businesses are faced with a challenge of keeping up with these new forms of technology. Concerns over the erasure of traditional media – radio, television and newspapers - have been expressed as disappearing media… but are they really?
Conventional music for RADIO seems to be fading. Teenagers don’t know radio, but they understand iTunes. With the help of wireless Internet, satellite connections and podcasting, 95% of music and information disseminated through radio reaches the population because it is free, portable and ubiquitous. Radio on the Internet, such as Pandora, can hold a minimum of 1,000 songs, with people downloading their own music, controlling their own portable players. With online radio, individuals attain several advantages:
1) It's free
2) Users label themselves as self-proclaimed djs
3) Users remix and mash up songs and disseminate their own content for others to subscribe to
However, issues of credibility and professionalism are still questioned on the Internet. Moreover, not all of information offline can be accessed on the Internet.
With the portability feature of radio, there is also a hypothesis about the development of a portable TELEVISION. With online streaming of video and video blogs, virtually any video is available to be downloaded or watched. Slingbox, for example, is an Internet TV streaming device that lets consumers watch their cable, satellite or PVR on their computer and even their mobile phones. Similarly to online radio, online television is
1) Free to create their own TV channel
2) Upload and stream their videos
3) Anyone can have their own TV channel online
4) Reinforces user-generated content provides a sense of ownership
5) Encourages interactivity
With the invention of hypertext - virtual text on the Internet - communication researchers are arguing that BOOKS will soon become a luxury item. Digital material is:
1) Easy to store
2) Searchable
3) Unable to physically disintegrate over time
4) Save trees and money
An electronic book can be everywhere at once with one quick click of the mouse. Amateur journalists are playing the role of professionals who are no longer dependent on producers and gatekeepers to disseminate information, offering voices and opportunities to those who could not.
New media is becoming ubiquitous and proliferating among user generated content, mainstream media outlets are now catering to a collective power that is expressing alternative viewpoints, something those corporations are adjusting to. Our viewing time is now flattening out and spreading to other multimedia areas while news networks are using their audience to devices on the Internet. However, issues of credibility and professionalism are still questioned on the Internet. Moreover, not all of information offline can be accessed on the Internet. But the mainstream media continue to adapt to the ever-evolving technology that is permeating not only our computers, but our phones, radio and even our lives.
Is it, then, the end of radio, television and print? People still enjoy the convenience of the book, the community bonding with watching a favourite television show or going out to the movies and enjoying the many alternative voices on the radio that a personal ipod playlist may exclude. It also offers an alternative to people who are not that technologically savvy. However, with the youth market as the prime audience that is accelerating this new technological trend of Internet media, I think we will be finding a way to mix and mash the old with the new. One prime advantage of the Internet in which mainstream media sometimes doesn't offer, however, is user participation and user created content. Both traditional and non-conventional media technologies have their advantages and disadvantages, but I do not think this will cause the disappearance of either medium and hopefully, we will continue to find a balance between the old and the new.
So, from whichever device you are reading this on, feel free to collaborate, remix, mash-up, or create your own response!

She's been singing with other well-known artists such as Lil Wayne, Usher, Ludacris, Ciara and now with Kanye West and Ne-Yo. Melanie Fiona Ft. Bust Rhymes Remake Zombie's Tune
This is a pretty sick remix of the Zombies' "Time of the Season". Melanie Fiona released this single from her album "The Bridge" was released this past February but hasn't gotten too many hits it seems and Busta Rhymes tops it off. Hopefully you guys enjoy this because the chorus is BALLIN and this collabo did a pretty good remix.

Get "Starstruck" with Lady Gaga & Flo Rida
What an AWESOME song. Seriously.
"Starstruck" is a HOT single by Lady Gaga and Flo Rida that hopefully should be hitting the radio and clubs soon. The tune sounds like space galactica meets Kanye West with some sick R&B remix in the middle. It's a great song to groove to (in the club, shower, or in your room) or blast in the car radio with the top down and throwing up hand signals like you're from outta-the hood program (well...almost).
Below is not the official music video, but you can still hear this SICK SONG!

It's Britney BIATCH!
OMG - BRITNEY IS BACK!
Ms. Spears was performing at the ACC on Thursday night and I was one of the lucky people to see her! The Pussycat Dolls also opened up for Britney and it was one of the best shows I've seen!
The show was a mix of sexy and Cirque du Soleil - very energetic and the effects were AWESOME! After the Pussycat Dolls performing their hot singles, there was an intermission of acrobatics and magic shows. Britney then opened her show with Circus and played so many of her hits (some of them a way-back-play-back)... and I felt like I was 16 again!
I'll be uploading some of my videos this week, but for now I can show you some of the electrifying pics I caught of Britney:
The Public Has Spoken for More Scandal!
Thank you to all of you who voted in Got Hip Hop?'s poll, "What do you want to read more about?". The majority of votes went to "Hip Hop Scandals", with the runner-up in "Hip Hop Clothing/Art". Since YOU decide what you would like to read about, I'm gonna give it to ya!
How's this for scandal....
50 Cent ostensibly has Rick Ross's sex tap of him and his shawty Brooke.... (why exactly 50 Cent has a sex tape of Rick Ross is slightly odd and makes me question Fiddy a little.....but who knows).
Rick Ross is appalled over Fiddy's "un-thug-like" behaviour and said, "Now if he was a real gangster, a real g…if you was gonna fly [Tia] up and take her shopping, you shoulda banged on tape”....
....riiiiiight.....good call Ross, good call.

"Love, Sex & Magic" Between Ciara and JT
Well... not literally, but they made an awesome song together!
Ciara is working on her video for the song and apparently she shows quite a bit of her flexible dance skills (but I'm not surprised!), and Justin Timberlake to appear in her video as well. "Love, Sex & Magic" will be premiering on her third album titled "Fantasy ride" to be released on May 5th.
The video has yet to be released but you can hear their song below!

Her Milkshake Brought Her a Baby!
That's right - Kelis is PREGNANT with a baby boy!
Kelis showed off her baby bump this past Sunday at Damon Peruzzi's birthday party at Teddy's in Lost Angeles. She even got a cake made for her by the culinary graduate school, described by Rap Up as "layered with red velvet, vanilla butter cream, and butter cake with chocolate fudge frosting"....
Damn, too bad I gave up that stuff for Lent!

Tupac to Release Album (Say WHA?)
But... isn't he dead?
According to The Hip Hop Chronicle UK, Tupac's upcoming album (to be released March 20 on iTunes), was created back in 1996 with the Boot Camp Click (but then it was shelved following Pac's murder). He wanted to illustrate that he's all about the unity, even though he was involved in a feud with the Notorious B.I.G.
Tunes from Snoop Dogg, Big Daddy Kane, B.I.G. Outlawz and Greg Nice are featured on the album.
So whatcha think about that??

Kanye West on American Idol
Kanye West performed his setting release "Heartless" on American Idol on March 11th. But man, couldn't he have picked a more upbeat song?! By listening to most of his songs on his recent album 808s & Heartbreak, he seems to be going through a pretty rough love-spell. Don't get me wrong, it's an aight song, but I think I would have liked to hear something that makes me wanna dance.

Solange In Bus Accident
....but she ain't hurt (and thank goodness)!
Solange Knowles was on tour in Texas with British popstar Estelle, traveling along until the bus hit a herd of deer.
Solange (who was Twittering at the time!), tweeted this to her followers:
“I’m on the phone baking like betty in my bus bunk and CRASH! Thought I was dead, but turns out we ran into a family of dear. I can’t believe it. Were all ok tho! Guitar player flew out of bunk n hurt his hand a little. But I’m saying a huge prayer of thanks right now. God is good ALL the time!”

Pitbull Releases "I Know You Want Me"
If you want something to shake your thang to, this is the song for you!
Pitbull just released his video of "I Know You Want Me" Calle Ocho remix, and it's KILLER. The video is not that creative however and somewhat typical. You know, the voluptuous girls flaunting their bodies and swarming over the not-so-much-hot rap artist.... but I guess what else could you really do with a song titled "I Know You Want Me"?
The song has a mix between house and reggaeton and this is definitely going to take off in the clubs, just you wait!

Diddy Gets Jiggy on Ellen.... and Reports it on Twitter
P. Diddy/Puff Daddy/Diddy/Puffy/Daddy.... whatever you like to call him, danced his way onto Ellen Degeners's talk show this morning. The very first thing Ellen asks him about is Diddy's Twitter account (iamdiddy)... and Diddy is ALL OVER THAT! He was preaching to Ellen about Twitter and telling her she needs to get "twitting", but I believe the twitter term for that is"tweeting".
Diddy handled himself well too when Ellen asked him why on earth would he have Chris Brown staying at his place and using his ski-dos after he just hit Rihanna (and Ellen trying to make it clear that she doesn't want any girls thinking that it should be tolerated that a guy can hit her). He defense was that he was helping both friends in this dark time and does not like to pass judgment on anyone (and also told us to "pray" for them).
What do you think about Diddy allowing Chris Brown to crash at his place for a bit?

Keri Hilson + Kanye West Sittin in a Tree....
K-I-S-S-I-N-G!
Keri Hilson and Kanye West are dating, and Hilson decided to make a video about it in her new video called "Make Love". You can kind of tell that it was produced by Timbaland (if you know his style and heard a lot of his songs). The plus side to this video? Kanye doesn't speak in this one.
The video is not available on YouTube yet, but you can view the video on Kanye's blog HERE.

Jonas Brothers to Go Hip Hop? HOW CUTE!
It seems this trend of crossing over from one realm of music to the other is slowly catching on. I mean, we first heard of rap artist Nelly do a little cross over of his own to country with his collaboration on "Over and Over Again" with Tim McGraw (or you could even say Tim McGraw did a little cross over). Then we have seen Lil Wayne cross over to Rock, and now the Jonas Brothers are surfing the hip hop sounds waves!
Well, all I can say is best of luck to you boys!
What do YOU think about the Jonas Brothers making their way into the Hip Hop realm, hmmmm?

The Roots on Late Night Show with...... JIMMY FALLON?!
Let me get the obvious out of the way first..... Jimmy Fallon has a Late Night talk show?!
That he does! Apparently Jay Leno is leaving his talk show at the end of May and Conon O'Brian is taking the leave as well at the end of June and taking over the Tonight Show in California.... so Jimmy Fallon decided to jump in and start his own show!
Now for the awesome hip hop news - The Roots are Jimmy Fallon's band! I think they help ease over Jimmy Fallon's nervousness a little bit on the show.
Check out a 10-min behind-the-scenes interview with The Roots on the set of Jimmy Fallon Tonight!

YouTube: Putting Your Face(s) Forward
YouTube - it’s a play on the television tube and in a way, it acts like one.
YouTube is like a TV channel that is always on. New forms of expressions, communities and identities are surfacing on videos being uploaded on the Internet everyday around the globe. Anyone with access to the Internet can join in whenever and wherever they want in this global mixer of what we call YouTube. Users create their own content and remix existing content while taking part in this creative collaboration of user-generated content. By transcending both time and space, we create a whole new world and open a whole new window of opportunities.
There’s an interesting dichotomy at hand here. The medium we use to express ourselves on YouTube is a simple webcam. When we want to talk to people we know, people we don’t know and people we might want to connect with, we want to do so privately. We feel awkward acting as our “real” selves in front of people, so we hide ourselves in our private room (or in some cases, the closet).
We talk to what others seem ourselves. But we are absolutely comfortable talking to the entire universe, this invisible audience that we cannot see. Our audience is asynchronous; we never know when anyone will tune into listen to us. We talk to a camera, a little black dot, a space where it seems nobody is watching but everyone is there. We hide ourselves in the most private physical space but share out darkest secrets in the most intangible and virtually public space.
Michael Wesch, the creator of An Anthropological Introduction to YouTube, offers an answer to this phenomenon. His contends the anonymity of watching + the physical distance + rare and ephemeral dialogue offers hatred as public performance. People are allowed to feel relaxed and experience a sense of freedom with humanity without the fear of experiencing social anxiety in the physical realm. We have a heightened sense of self-awareness where we can discover and re-discover ourselves.
There’s a slight voyeuristic quality to YouTube as well. James Joyce calls this an “aesthetic arrest” of humanity, where we are captured and fascinated by human nature itself. We discover a deeply profound connection with one another across a computer screen and a webcam that we may not be capable of in the physical world.
What users do have to be wary about is other users’ authenticity. Truth and authentic identities are ambiguous on the Internet, as some people choose to create different personalities and identities for themselves, or choose to remain anonymous (Lonelygirl15 and Emokid21Ohio anyone?). People don’t like to feel duped and when they do and make users feel insecure and apprehensive about trusting others. While YouTube can act as a vehicle for showing your true self, it can also help people to construct a new, different, or sometimes fake self.
Whatever your purpose is for YouTube, there are so many uses for it. You can be silly, dance, since, celebrate, voice an opinion, confess, share, play, or you can be you – or the multi-faceted you. YouTube empowers its users to be whoever they want to be, whether they choose to hide a part of their identity, show other parts of their personality, or even create their own identity. It’s about putting your best face – or multi-faceted self – forward in a community that never stops sharing, collaborating, interacting and most happily, dancing.
SNEAK PEAK OF BRITNEY'S CIRCUS TOUR!
I am SO excited I can already "feel the ADRENALINE running through my veins"!
Britney Spears has teamed up with Candie's as their model/show girl and have also set up a video trailer, aka SNEAK PEAK for her upcoming Circus Tour.
I will be happily attending the March 19th show at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto and CAN'T WAIT. The stage is similar to that of Justin Timberlake's Sexy Back Tour, where the stage is in the centre of the room and portrayed as an actual circus... things are gonna get WILD!!

Carey and Cannon: Baby on the Way?
Awwww how cute would that be??
Mariah Carey and Nick Canno have now been married for a year now (their first year anniversary just hit this past April), and they have high hopes to starting a family with their first baby.
Apparently the couple has already been trying for a year to conceive, but after some difficulties, they have decided to check into a fertility clinic to help them on their way.
Considering Mariah is 38 and will be turning 39 on March 27th, 2009. She says she wants to have her first baby by the time she hits 40. And with her biological clock is still tickin', she better get busy!

Beyonce Featured in Ebony Magazine April 2009
Surprise surprise! Beyonce/Sasha-Fierce makes the headlines once again! This time, she is featured in the April 2009 issue of Ebony magazine in several elegant designs of dresses, floral leggings and corsets.
In the article titled "Beyonce Evolved: An Intimate Portrait of the Superstar You May Not Know", Beyonce is asked about her marriage to Jay-Z, her "messy life" and her professional career:
“I’m a daughter, I’m a friend, I’m a wife, I’m a sister. All those things first. I’m artist. I’m a businesswoman. I’m multifaceted. I’m a lover. I’m inspired by love. I make decisions from the heart.”
